I use the Withings scale as my normal measurement. It uses electrical impedance (from the feet) which isn't perfect but it's super convenient. To supplement I've also bought the Omron hand held monitor to see how it compares. This purchase is a bit newer but my impression is it follows a similar trend line but consistently measures me to have a lower body fat %.

Beyond just equipment what I've done to help make my results consistent are always measure only the moment when I wake up and always before I shower (as the humidity the shower creates provides mild interference to my measurements). Is there anything else you'd suggest? I do have tape measures and calipers but I haven't started using them yet.

Depends how you are measuring body fat percentage. I agree it is unlikely that body weight reduces while exercise levels remain the same or increase and have body fat percentage go up; accuracy of the measuring system in use might be the issue.

After all that my toing and froing I finally decided on the longest run and since it was so close to 13 miles I tacked on a little bit on the end to get to the 1/2 Marathon point.

I do remember the pizza burning/eating. Had forgotten about Blarney's but I'd put Blarney's into the same top tier as Hooligans for pub names. ;^)

Yeah I don't need to lose anymore weight but it seemed so easy to try this and I liked the way the diet was tested "wikipedia style" so I figured I'd give it a week or two. My schedule did get interrupted by flying to the US but I just got back from the grocery store with my extra-light olive oil and I'm ready for shots! ;^)

I don't know about a diet plan that starts with "sounds to good to be true" brother! I lost a bunch of weight a few years back, but have successfully managed to add about half of it back. You can do it though man, get down wit yo bad self!

I will always remember Oscar's was the place you went late night and burned the hell out of the roof of your mouth because you were too hungry to let the pizza cool off! They used to have some super hot wing deal where if you could finish an order it was free or something. The place that used to be Hooligan's is now called Schmedley's Pub. Ted's is now owned by some guy from Litchfield, or so I hear. Stopped and had a beer at Blarney's in Willimantic last time I was in town. Classic!

Update ... I am now full-time at my new company LifeGadget! Wish me luck, donate money, curse my foolishness ... it won't make any difference in the decision. We, however, wish to state our preference toward donation. :^)
