Having your dog neutered is considered an important operation for dogs who are living in the city. It makes them much more calm and greatly reduces their chances of running out into the street (after a female companion). When we adopted Jose and Cuervo, Cuervo had already been neutered as part of the process for sheltered dogs looking for new homes but little Jose was given a pass as one of his balls had not yet dropped. Sadly for him, his second ball dropped and his number came up.
Jose went to the vet yesterday and did “the needful”. Today he’s trying to get used to his new crown of shame to limited success. His brother still really wants to play and seems to kind of — but not fully — understand that Jose isn’t quite ready for it yet.
